Stutzman Praises Indiana Credit Rating

Statement

Date: June 8, 2011
Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) commented today on the AAA rating for the state of Indiana by Standard and Poor's Rating Service (S&P). Indiana received the highest bond rating available due to the hard work the state government has put into managing the budget and keeping debt levels low. Conversely the Federal government is on the brink of being downgraded after the S&P changed their outlook on U. S. Treasury securities to "negative' from "stable' causing concerns in the economy.

"Indiana has again shown that fiscal responsibility is the key to economic stability." Stutzman stated "I want to congratulate both Governor Daniels and the General Assembly for making the tough decisions that are leading to economic stability here at home. Washington should take notice that the Nation is watching and there must be controls placed on spending. It is critical that the President and Senate Democrats take the proper action and work with the House Leadership to find a resolution to our dire fiscal situation. Chairman Ryan's "Path to Prosperity' is an important part of the solution to getting America back to sound fiscal ground."
