Congressman Landry Fumes Over Inaction in Senate

Statement

Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) -- the House's leading advocate for domestic drilling -- issued the following statement today after the Senate failed to pass legislation that would help issue permits and create jobs in the Gulf of Mexico:

"Both political parties in the Senate are to blame for yesterday's failure to move forward the job-creating legislation passed in the House. As a freshmen, I was chosen to lead the floor fight on legislation that will increase domestic energy production, create American jobs, and decrease energy prices. Once again, we did our jobs in the House; however, both parties in the Senate failed to act. They attempted to appease Senate Democrats by adding more red tape and bureaucracy and furthering unnecessary reviews of permits. I applaud Senator Vitter for voting against these redundant, burdensome regulations. It's time to put the Gulf back to work, create domestic energy, and lower the pain at the pump.
