Rokita Tours Area Businesses, Presents Export Award

Today Rep. Todd Rokita (IN-4) toured several growing Indiana companies to learn how they are succeeding in tough economic times and gather suggestions on federal regulations that are making doing business more difficult. Rokita also presented an Export Achievement Award to Jeco Plastic Products. Rokita released the following statement:

"Job creation is my top priority and I always enjoy the opportunity to visit with the small and medium-sized business owners who form the backbone of our local economy. Despite the tough economic times, these companies are creating products and services that people at home and abroad need, adding value to our economy and creating Hoosier jobs.

These businesses know best what government can do to help them grow and create jobs. Invariably their answer is the same: keep government out of the way. As part of my Regulation Red Tape initiative with the Indiana Chamber, I asked for and received valuable input today about ways Congress can work with federal agencies to reform and repeal burdensome regulations that hurt Indiana businesses."

Rokita also presented Craig Carson, CEO of Jeco Plastic Products of Plainfield, with a U.S. Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award for Jeco's substantial and growing export business.

"I want to congratulate Craig Carson and the employees of Jeco Plastics for their hard work and perseverance building a successful company and exporter of Indiana products."

Rokita also visited Steel Dynamics of Pittsboro, a producer of steel products and Scale Computing of Indianapolis, a growing hi-tech company.
