U.S.Congressman Sean Duffy (WI-07), a Member of the House Committee on Financial Services and the Joint Economic Committee, issued the following statement today after the House passed several bills that would provide benefits to veterans:
"One of my top priorities is to ensure that our country is there for those who have served in uniform -- period. The bills we passed out of the House today make sure that we are taking care of those who have protected us. While folks may occasionally disagree over policy, when it comes to taking care of the men and women who have fought for our freedom, there is no disagreement. We are unified in our support for our veterans.
"Whether it's providing for their families, starting a small business or purchasing a home, it is our responsibility to help our veterans. Those who are injured on the front lines should not be abandoned when they return home.
"I recently visited Afghanistan and Walter Reed Army Medical Center and I saw firsthand the dedication and commitment of our men and women in the armed forces who spend months away from their families and loved ones to put their lives on the line for our country. I remain committed to fighting in Congress to make sure that our troops have what they need to get the job done and get home safe. I will also make sure that once they're home, they have what they need to transition into civilian life smoothly."
