Wittman Welcomes Comments by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) issued the following statement following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to a Joint Meeting of Congress:

"The United States must stand by and support our ally, Israel, and I was pleased by the comments of Prime Minister Netanyahu today before Congress," Wittman said. "I was extremely disappointed with the comments by the President last week as he endorsed a plan for Israel to return to its 1967 borders, a position described by PM Netanyahu as "indefensible." The U.S. must support Israel's right to defend itself and its sovereignty; our relationship is more critical than ever. Israel has stood firmly with the United States and we must stand with Israel in its quest for stability, peace and freedom."
