Murphy's "American Jobs Matter Act" Reintroduced in House

Today, Congressman Chris Murphy re-introduced his "American Jobs Matter Act" as part of House Democrats' plan to create jobs by helping American manufacturers. His bill directs the federal government to gather information on whether a contract will create U.S. jobs and allows the government to use that information in making decisions.

"American defense dollars should go to American companies, period. Most people I talk to assume we already do that. This is a commonsense jobs bill that will give American manufacturers a leg-up when contracting with the federal government," said Murphy.

Today's announcement builds on Congressman Murphy's push to create jobs and grow the economy by helping American manufacturers. After listening to Connecticut manufacturers talk about how work that used to be done in Connecticut is now being sent overseas, Congressman Murphy founded the Congressional Buy American Caucus to highlight the need to reinvest in American Manufacturing.

"Job creation is my number one priority. We have to stop working on political wedge issues, and get the focus back on creating jobs. The people I talk to in Connecticut expect us to reinvest in manufacturing, put Americans back to work and dig out of this recession" Murphy added.
