Continued Push for Bold Action on the Budget

Statement

This week I continued to push for bold action that would rein in out-of-control federal spending like the five-year budget solution I introduced in March.

A Balanced Budget Amendment would also provide necessary budgetary restraint. I, and forty-six of my Republican Senate colleagues, support a Balanced Budget Amendment. The government, in this amendment, is required by law to balance the budget in five years. While I commend the efforts of Republican Members of the House and Senate for offering solutions to a serious debt problem, it is important to note that only my budget proposal achieves the requirements of the Balanced Budget Amendment.
