More Than $900,000 to University of Iowa

Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded grants totaling $940,926 to the University of Iowa.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, $565,938 will be used to fund allergy, immunology and transplantation research, and $374,988 will be used to fund heart and vascular disease research.

Each year, local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual's ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
