Lummis Applauds Vote to Expand Domestic Energy Production

Statement

Date: May 5, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) applauded House passage of H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act. H.R. 1230 would require the Department of the Interior (DOI) to auction offshore oil and gas leases that have been either canceled or delayed by the Obama Administration in the Central and Western Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Virginia.

Lummis released the following statement:

"As prices at the pump approach record levels, the Obama Administration continues to actively halt domestic energy production with its backward energy polices. The Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act reverses the administration's efforts to delay and cancel these leases which were long ago slated for production. We can create good jobs, help insulate the economy from energy price shocks, and reduce our dependence on foreign countries by shelving the administration's misguided energy policies and putting America's vast domestic energy resources to use."
