Klobuchar Statement on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Proposal to Delist the Gray Wolf in Minnesota

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar released the following statement today after the Department of Interior officially announced a proposal to delist the Great Lakes gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act list in Minnesota and the western Great Lakes states:

"We have seen a noticeable increase in the number of wolves in Minnesota and now we have to turn our attention to restoring balance to the natural habitat. I'm glad this process is moving forward and I look forward to ultimately removing the wolf from the Endangered Species Act list in the next few months."

The proposal will help achieve a final ruling before the end of 2011, a timeline Klobuchar asked Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to commit to in a letter last December.
