Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Religion

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement in recognition of National Day of Prayer, which will be observed tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, 2011:

"On this National Day of Prayer, I join Texans in giving thanks for the many blessings we often take for granted. I give thanks for my freedom and for the selfless service of our men and women in uniform, past and present, that has made it possible. I pray for the families of our fallen heroes, including those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. I pray for healing for the sick and for new opportunity for the millions of Americans looking for work. I pray for strengthened families, protection for the most vulnerable, and a brighter future for our next generation. May God Bless Texas and May God Bless America."
