On tax day, Rep. Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) has introduced a bill to provide tax relief for businesses and encourage the hiring of Reservists and members of the National Guard, again delivering on his promise to be a strong advocate for members of the Armed Services.
H.R. 1570 provides businesses with a tax credit of up to $2,000 per year for each employee who is absent from work for the purpose of performing qualified active duty services.
"For many small businesses, the burden of hiring someone who may be out for extended periods can be tough and strain resources," Bilirakis said. "Members of the Reserves and National Guard have selflessly volunteered to put their lives on hold in order to serve their country. In turn, we should make an effort to help ensure their financial security."
