Rep. Himes released the following statement regarding the S&P's announcement it will cut its U.S. ratings outlook to negative.
"S&P's announcement today should serve as a wake-up call to anyone who thinks we can ignore our long-term financial problems. Everyone must come to the table and make the serious and honest effort necessary to put America back on a path to fiscal sustainability. The economic security of current and future generations hinges on our willingness to reduce the deficit. We face certain economic trouble if Washington does not act."
