Cornyn Statement on the One-Year Anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) today issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill:

"One year ago today, the Gulf Coast endured a tragic, unprecedented accident and 11 families lost loved ones. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to those families and all those affected by this disaster. The damage is still fresh in our hearts and minds as we work to rebuild our coasts. America depends on the Gulf region for a multitude of resources--energy, seafood, and tourism to name a few.
"Folks are ready to get back to work, and this Administration needs to let them do that. The longer they choose to delay issuing drilling permits, the longer they endanger jobs for thousands of America's Gulf Coast workers. It's time to take the lessons that we learned from this disaster and move forward in developing our domestic resources to meet America's energy needs."
