Congressman Crawford Voted to Avoid Government Shutdown

Statement

Congressman Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) today voted for a short-term continuing resolution that will avert a government shutdown.

The continuing resolution acts as a bridge while details to fund the government through the current fiscal year are finalized. The long-term continuing resolution, expected to pass later next week, will cut $38.5 billion in federal spending, fund the troops for the remainder of the fiscal year, and officially ends the "Stimulus" spending spree.

"I am proud to cast my vote to responsibly fund our government while cutting federal spending by historic amounts," said Congressman Rick Crawford. "Speaker Boehner stood strong and demanded the cuts that Americans want. We were elected to bring responsibility back to Washington, and this vote is another step towards fiscal sanity. Now that we have successfully funded the government, we can focus on what the last Congress neglected to do for Fiscal Year 2011: create a responsible budget."
