as U.S.-led military strikes on Iraq begin

Governor Mark R. Warner made the following statement tonight on the initiation of military action against Iraq.

"Tonight, our prayers go out to those in the theater of battle, those providing support to that effort, those protecting us at home, and the families of everyone serving in harm's way."

"Virginians have always played a critical role in defending our national security and freedom around the world. As a Commonwealth and a nation, we must all support the President and our troops in this difficult mission."
