Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today:

"I was very saddened to hear that volunteer firefighters from Calvert County were severely injured in the line of duty. Our communities depend on first responders to help us in life-and-death emergencies, and their quick action last night -- and every night that they are called to service -- helps ensure the safety of our citizens. I join with our entire community in praying for their quick and complete recovery."
