Rep. Laura Richardson Statement on the Earthquake in Japan and Tsunami in Pacific

Congresswoman Laura Richardson issued the following statement today in response to the tragic earthquake and massive tsunami in Japan. Congresswoman Richardson also made recommendations for residents of California's 37th district to take seriously and heed notices regarding the tsunami warning currently in effect for the Pacific coast:
"As the Ranking Member on the House Committee on Homeland Security Committee's Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response and Communication and the Representative of the California's 37th Congressional District, I urge my constituents and all Californians to pay close attention to any warnings and alerts in the hours and days that come. Please remain vigilant and continue to follow the advice and instruction of local, state and federal officials moving forward.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan during this challenging time and I extend my deepest sympathies to the families and communities impacted by today's earthquake and tsunami. Like so many, I have been shocked and moved by the images that have been broadcast this morning of the devastation caused by today's horrific disaster and as a Member of Congress I stand steadfast in my commitment to offer any and all support possible.
