Lummis Praises House Repeal of Burdensome Rule on America's Small Business Owners

Today, U.S. Representative Lummis (R-Wyo.) applauded House passage of H.R. 4, which would repeal the burdensome 1099 tax reporting mandate included within ObamaCare.

Lummis released the following statement:

"The 1099 reporting provision is one of many reckless regulations buried within President Obama's health care bill. This regulation would pile a mountain of paperwork on America's small business owners.

"Imagine a landscaping business that is just starting up. For every new lawnmower, new pickup truck, or shipment of sod, the business would be required to file paperwork under the 1099 requirement. Instead of hiring an employee to help lay sod, the small business owner would be forced to put their resources toward employing someone to complete the mandatory paperwork.

"Mandates like this only drive up costs and uncertainty for small businesses, which is the last thing our job creators need as they try to navigate their way through the many challenges that come with the current economic climate. I am pleased the House repealed this barrier to job creation. I look forward to fully repealing the misguided health care law and replacing it with common-sense solutions."
