Capito Joins Toyota Plant In Buffalo For Major Announcement

Today, Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., joined local and state government officials as well as special guests for an important announcement at Toyota Motor Manufacturing of West Virginia's (TMMWV) Buffalo plant.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America President Tetsuo Agata and TMMWV President Yoji Suzuki announced that the Buffalo plant will make a $64 million investment to expand production, adding 40 jobs and increasing employment to 1,100.

"This marks the sixth expansion in the plant's 15 years of operation, proving that West Virginians are among the best work force within Toyota. We're excited that the rest of the country looks to our plant as one of the best places to work. In light of near-double digit unemployment, I am humbled by Toyota's announcement that it will create 40 new jobs in an industry that was hit hard by the economic downturn. Every single job created is a step closer to getting our economy back on track," stated Capito.

"Toyota has been an important partner to the West Virginia community for over 10 years, providing over 1,000 jobs and support to local families. I thank TMMWV for making an effort to truly make a difference in the area, from giving gifts and other items to needy children during Christmas season to providing high school and adult students with career and technical education classes in partnership with the Putnam Career and Technical Center. The leadership team at Toyota has been wonderful to work with throughout the years, and I look forward to their continued success," concluded Capito.
