Statement on WI Assembly Passage of Special Session SB 11 (Budget Repair Bill)

Statement

"The passage of Governor Walker's budget repair bill in the State Assembly marks a sad day in Wisconsin history. Nevertheless, our fight to preserve the rights of Wisconsin's hard-working public employees goes on with even greater resolve.

I am incredibly proud of our Democratic State Representatives and their staffs who have toiled for so many days, under such difficult conditions, to block this reckless and harmful measure. I am in awe of our Democratic State Senators who have taken such a courageous stand to allow the people of Wisconsin to be heard on this measure. And I am so inspired by the people of Wisconsin who have come together by the tens of thousands to draw a line in the sand and lay claim to our democracy."
