Obama Administration Failing Americans on Creating Jobs and Energy Independence

Press Release

Date: March 3, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement today after questioning Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on our energy independence and why the Obama administration is ideologically opposed to exploring an "all of the above" approach to energy policy.

"Once again President Obama is clearly wrong when it comes to energy policy and our energy independence. Issuing ONE deepwater drilling permit is not enough to stop sending American jobs overseas. With unemployment hovering at 9% and energy prices surging, Americans can no longer afford irresponsible energy policy from the Obama administration when gas prices in Louisiana have surged 23 cents in the past week. Mr. President, your actions speak louder than words. Your actions are showing Americans that your administration doesn't care about high energy costs. Even your own Energy Secretary has advocated for higher gas prices. This is unacceptable."

When Dr. Fleming asked Interior Secretary Salazar to comment on this policy, Secretary Salazar merely said, "I disagree with your characterization and foundation of the question." Once again, the Obama administration is in denial.

Dr. Fleming added, "Americans deserve an "all of the above' approach to energy policy that creates much needed jobs right here in America. Americans do not deserve the Obama administration's outright contempt for American jobs and the American economy."
