Congressman John Fleming, M.D. was recognized this week by Heritage Action for America as one of 47 Members of Congress who voted for every single spending cut in H.R. 1, the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act 0f 2011.

"Last Congress, Republicans made a promise to the American people that we would get spending under control. We know that doing this is going to require making tough decisions about where we are going to spend our limited resources," said Fleming. "I was proud to support cost-cutting measures that get us on track towards fiscal sanity. If American families have to balance their budgets and live within their means, the federal government should be willing to do the same."

"Heritage Action appreciates Congressman Fleming's rock-solid willingness to cut spending," said Michael A. Needham, CEO of Heritage Action for America. "His strong stance on cutting spending is exactly what America needs at this crucial time."

Heritage Action for America is a conservative advocacy group committed to building an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and a civil society flourish.

Dr. John Fleming is Chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs and a is member of the House Armed Services Committee. He is a physician and small business owner and represents the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana.
