Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) today issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 514, legislation extending three provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act scheduled to expire on February 28, 2011:
"Our most basic duty as Members is to protect the people we represent. We must remain vigilant and ensure that law enforcement has the tools to track and prosecute terrorists--some who plot while standing on our soil. I am proud to join my colleagues in a bipartisan manner to support the extension of these provisions."
The legislation, offered by Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), passed the House, 275-144.
