Lankford: Obama's Budget Yields Unsustainable Deficits and Punishes Energy Providers

Statement

During yesterday's House Budget Committee hearing, Congressman James Lankford (R-OK) questioned Office of Management and Budget Director Jacob Lew on President Obama's recently released budget that will result in $7.2 trillion in debt over the next decade and punishes traditional energy providers in favor of unproven, non-traditional sources.

On Obama's Budget:

"What I'm hearing are terms like "sustainable deficits.' That doesn't seem to be working to getting it under control. That seems to be working to get it to some manageable balance that we only add a trillion or so a year to our debt, and we're not really getting out of this."

On Challenges Facing Energy Producers:

"There is this sense that [the Obama Administration is] going to go hammer on the big oil companies when the majority of our energy companies aren't the big giant companies. They are small independent producers that are scattered all over the country…"
