U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) released the following statement regarding today's developments in Egypt:

"The Egyptian people have a historic opportunity to peacefully transition to a more representative government. That starts with establishing responsible and deliberate plans for free and fair elections. Egypt has been an important U.S. ally in the Middle East, and we need to use America's significant influence to ensure that continues."
