Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and as Congress seeks to enhance an environment that will foster job growth, we must recognize small business and entrepreneurism as the driver behind economic stability. This not only includes creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to build businesses and owners to grow their current companies, but also ensuring our tax structure is favorable to continued investment.
In 2005 I was named by the Small Business Administration as Business Advocate of the Year. In this economic downturn, I will redouble my effort to advocate and promote small business. I believe it is the small businesses and entrepreneurship in our communities that will create the jobs that will pull our economy out of recession.
