Congresswoman Hirono Hails FTA's Issuing of a Record of Decision for Honolulu Rail Transit Project

Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) released the following statement after the Federal Transit Administration today issued a Record of Decision for the Honolulu rail transit system. The Record of Decision now clears the way for the next phase of the transportation project:

"Today's signing of the Record of Decision for the Honolulu Rail Project is a major step forward, as it allows the City to begin initial construction activities," said Congresswoman Hirono. "I welcome the jobs this will provide and look forward to the improved quality of life this transit system will give to my constituents in Leeward Oahu, who now suffer with some of the longest drive times in the country due to traffic congestion."
