Webster Votes to Repeal Unaffordable Federal Health Care Bill

Congressman Daniel Webster (R-Winter Garden) today voted to repeal the government health care takeover and stressed the importance of eliminating the job-destroying 1099 provision. Emphasizing the need for a patient-centered replacement, Webster released the following statement:

"I promised Central Floridians that I would fight in Washington to do three important things: create jobs, stop the spending spigot, and repeal this unaffordable federal health care bill. For too long, rhetoric in Washington has not been backed with results in Florida and following through on this promise is the first of many commitments that I intend to fulfill. Floridians can expect our next focus to be on the runaway spending that is crippling future generations and job creation policies to put people back to work in the Sunshine State.

"In no way does our work on health care stop here. Today's repeal is the first step of a multi-step process to replace the federal health care bill with a more affordable and patient-centered alternative. One of the immediate benefits of repeal has to do with the 1099 reporting requirement that leaves small businesses owners swimming in a rough sea of costly and burdensome filing paperwork. I encourage the Senate to take this repeal bill up to provide immediate relief to these small business owners," said Congressman Daniel Webster.

Congressman Webster is a cosponsor of H.R. 4, the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011, to remove the burdensome and costly 1099 reporting paperwork provision.
