Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding President Obama's appointment of General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt to head the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

"Jeff Immelt has the vision and expertise to inspire a fresh approach to the American economy. During one of the most challenging economic times in our history, he has led an organization that found innovative ways for this quintessentially American company to compete in the global marketplace. I am eager to work with Mr. Immelt and President Obama to take our economic turn-around to the next level."
