Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL) and Congressman James Lankford (R-OK) issued the following statement after Congressman Lankford was appointed to serve on the Subcommittee on Aviation and the Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment.
"We must do more with less and eliminate wasteful spending when it comes to rebuilding our nation's infrastructure and putting people back to work," said Chairman Mica. "Congressman Lankford's dedication to service makes him a valuable addition to these subcommittees, and will allow him to immediately contribute to the work of producing fiscally responsible legislation to improve our infrastructure and create jobs."
"It is an honor to be appointed by Chairman Mica and I look forward to working with him to help address the issues that are facing the Fifth District and the nation," said Congressman Lankford. "All too often, over-burdensome government regulations have affected our water resources in the pursuit of energy independence, harming business and constricting job growth. The Water Resources and Environment subcommittee needs to take a hard look at the status quo and implement sensible laws that encourage economic growth and access to clean water.
"Oklahoma has a broad-range of aerospace interests and the Aviation subcommittee will give our district an important seat at the table. This year we will guide the FAA reauthorization process that will help ensure stability and coordination in the aerospace industry."
