U.S. Congressman Sean Duffy issued the following statement regarding the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and others at a public event in Arizona:

"I was shocked and saddened to hear of the horrific shooting of Congresswoman Giffords, her staff and other bystanders in Arizona. This kind of senseless and brutish violence has no place in our society. Although I have only been a Member of Congress for a short time, I had the pleasure of meeting Congresswoman Giffords on the floor last week and found her to be kind, charming and a committed public servant. Rachel and I will continue to pray for Congresswoman Giffords, her family and the families of all the victims today--that there might be a swift recovery to health and an even swifter administration of justice."
