U.S. Congressman Sean Duffy issued the following statement after voting to cut Congress' budget by five percent:
"The people of Wisconsin know that in order to promote economic growth and job creation, Congress needs to put our fiscal house in order. Today's vote is a first step in that direction: cutting our budgets and learning to do more with less. Every working family and small business in Central and Northwestern Wisconsin is making tough choices in the midst of these difficult economic times, and their elected representatives should do the same."
Background:
These cuts apply to all leadership offices, committees and Members' personal allowances and will save taxpayers at least $35 million in 2011 alone.
