Issue Position: Iraq
Our men and women in uniform serving in Iraq have done a remarkable job against all odds, and we are all proud of their service and successes. This progress has come at a truly steep price - we have lost over 4200 troops, 30,000 more have been wounded, countless others suffer from PTSD and depression, and hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent. It is now time to begin the work of bringing our troops home safely and responsibly. And it is also time for Iraq to take responsibility for its own future.
A responsible and safe redeployment from Iraq and renewed regional diplomacy will allow us to put our focus, resources and commitment where it needs to be - in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
