Graves Praises Passage of Health Care Repeal Legislation

Today, House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 245 to 189.

"The health care law isn't about reforming our health care system, it's about a government takeover of the health care industry. Instead of reining in costs and improving access, this law would result in fewer jobs, higher taxes and more unconstitutional big government mandates," said Chairman Graves.

"With unemployment still hovering above 9 percent, families and businesses cannot afford more regulations and red tape from Washington that would destroy jobs and further slow our economic recovery. We need to let employers focus on growing their businesses and creating jobs, not force them to jump through more hoops for Washington bureaucrats. I'm pleased that we've taken the first step toward repealing this health care law. It is past time we start over on common sense solutions that will improve access, reduce costs and increase competition for consumers without penalizing small businesses and families with high taxes and more debt."
