McNerney Encourages Community to Offer Input to Postal Service on Stockton Mail Proposal

Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) today encouraged community members to offer input regarding the US Postal Service's (USPS) proposal to transfer mail processing from the Stockton Processing and Distribution Center to another location by attending a public meeting on this Friday, January 21, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting, organized by the Postal Service, will be held at the Oak Park Senior Center, located at 730 East Fulton Street in Stockton.

"I encourage members of our community to participate in this upcoming meeting and offer input regarding the Post Office's proposal," said Rep. McNerney. "It's important that we take this opportunity to review the plan and make sure our community's voice is heard in the decision making process. For those that aren't able to attend the meeting, there's also the opportunity to mail in your comments."

The USPS is in the process of evaluating the feasibility of transferring mail processing services from the Stockton Processing and Distribution Center to the Sacramento Processing and Distribution Center. The goal of Friday's meeting is to share the proposal under consideration and allow members of the community to ask questions and provide feedback.

For those who cannot attend the meeting, the USPS will also be accepting public comment up to 15 days after the meeting. Comments must be postmarked by February 7, 2011 and may be mailed to the following address:
