U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 17th:

"Today, Texans and all Americans honor a true American icon, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His life brought together a nation. His legacy continues to stretch over our lives as we celebrate the strength of our diversity. Although we are far from perfection, from him we've learned that a patchwork of individuals with shared principles and passion can make a country great."
