As his freshman term in Congress draws to a close, Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) today announced that he has been appointed to two leadership positions--Democratic Caucus Regional Whip and the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee--for the 112th Congress.
Congressman Polis was chosen by House Democrats to be one of two whips from Region 5, representing the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. He was also reappointed to the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, which determines committee assignments and other policy decisions.
"Regional Whip and Steering and Policy Committee positions allow me to better voice the concerns of people of Colorado and move the Congress in a progressive direction," Polis said. "As the 112th Congress begins, it's important that we work together to craft legislation that will create jobs, grow our economy and improve the lives of American families. I look forward to using these positions to unite lawmakers from our region and make sure that our voices are heard loud and clear in Washington."
