Cornyn Responds to Administration's Threats to Texas Job Creators

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) today issued this statement in response to reports that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is planning to penalize Texas job creators if they do not demonstrate how they plan to obtain new federal permits by December 22:

"This latest move by the Administration is further proof that they are intent on punishing Texas job creators rather than working with state regulators to make improvements to Texas' existing, successful program.

"I recently had a frank discussion with industry leaders from across Southeast Texas at a roundtable I hosted in Pasadena. These companies, already struggling under the weakened economy, will face even greater financial and job losses if the EPA continues down this path of bureaucratic bullying.

"Texas has demonstrated it is committed to reducing emissions and improving our air quality--this Administration should be working with us to build on these successful policies and provide incentives for growth and job creation."
