Pete Sessions on November Unemployment Report

Statement

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) today released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor's report that the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in November:

"A rising unemployment rate underscores the harsh reality of over 15 million Americans still looking for work. With record unemployment not seen since the Great Depression, jobless Americans continue to watch Washington promote the same failed tax-and-spend policies that have discouraged economic recovery. The Democrat Majority's vote yesterday for tax increases on families and job creators is just the latest example of Washington's disconnect with the struggles of the American people.

"New leadership in Congress cannot come soon enough for job-seeking Americans. Listening to the American people, Republicans are deeply committed to stopping job-killing tax increases and empowering job creators to thrive in the free enterprise system. The American people have called for smaller government, spending cuts, and tax relief, and that is what my Republican colleagues and I intend to deliver. The future of job-seeking Americans depends on it."
