The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is ignoring local concerns and a scientific review panel in moving ahead with a bloated and long-term plan for environmental actions related to mining activity in the Silver Valley. Senator Jim Risch and Representatives Mike Simpson and Walt Minnick and I have sent separate public comment letters, stating that the multi-billion dollar plan could worsen pollution problems and harm economic growth in the area. Along with the rest of the Idaho Congressional Delegation, I have called on the EPA to change course and explain its actions.
