Kerry-Edwards and Their Frosty Façade

Diaz-Balart: Kerry-Edwards Trying to Pull Off Ultimate Bait-and-Switch

WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today expressed his disappointment regarding a Kerry-Edwards campaign photo-op stop at a Wendy's for the Edwards' anniversary dinner only to have gourmet catered lunch waiting for them on the campaign bus.

"In their relentless pursuit of the ultimate extreme makeover, Kerry and Edwards continue to put up a façade of who they are," Diaz-Balart said. "Nothing is wrong with two rich men enjoying a meal at Wendy's. But why would you have gourmet catered food to eat afterward? Was the Frosty not good enough?

"If you are going to have a photo-op at Wendy's to show you are a regular guy, then at least have the decency and honesty to eat the food. On a side note, Wendy's is probably breathing easier since they wouldn't want to get sued by Edwards for serving his family hamburgers and fries.

"I wish they would stop trying to be something they are not," Diaz-Balart continued. "Kerry claims he will cut spending but he has a long history of pushing for increased federal spending. He claims to be tough on defense, but his long Senate record shows the opposite. It's painful to watch. They should just be honest with the American people (and themselves) and be who they are - extreme liberals with extremely liberal voting records.

"Instead, Kerry and Edwards are trying to pull off the ultimate bait and switch."
