Pete Sessions: No Time for Tax Hikes

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32) today released the following statement in response to the Democrat Majority's plan to bring legislation to the House floor that allows tax increases on American families and businesses:

"The American people have spoken clearly that they do not want more government and higher taxes stifling their families' budgets and businesses. But now a repudiated Democrat Majority is still bent on promoting their failed tax-and-spend policies by picking winners and losers among American taxpayers.

"This is unacceptable. Families and small businesses are struggling to make ends meet, and this era of historic unemployment and economic challenge is no time to levy job-killing tax increases on any American. That is why Republicans are standing firm in our commitment to extending all tax relief to promote job creation and economic recovery across the nation. I call on Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat Majority to respect the voice of the American people and work with House Republicans to extend tax relief for all Americans. It's past time for personal political agendas to be replaced with responsible action in Congress."
