Letter to Mr. Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., Center for Security Policy

Letter

Dear Mr. Gaffney:

My office received your October 29, 2010 letter regarding the Council on American-Islamic Relations. I found this letter to be yet another example of the Center for Security Policy's (CSP) xenophobic, anti-Muslim, and hate-based tactics for which your organization is so well known.

CSP has earned a reputation for being radical in philosophy and extremist in practice, which I find dangerous to both the citizens of the United States and our Constitution. CSP's work appears to be little more than well-funded propaganda disguised as scholarly discourse.

I am proud of my work with Minnesota's Muslim community and with Muslim-Americans throughout the United States. It is my intention to continue to work to ensure that religious freedom and economic opportunity for Muslim-Americans and people of all faiths are protected from intolerance, bigotry, and extremism.

Sincerely,
Betty McCollum
