Issue Position

I have voted to repeal the death tax every chance I've had throughout my career in the U.S. Congress. I believe that the estate tax is politically misguided, morally unjustified and downright un-American. Most recently, I fought to prevent changes to the federal estate tax in 2011 that would increase the maximum estate tax rate from 45% to 55% and reduce the exemption amount from $3.5 million per individual to $1 million.
