Rep. Foster Wins "Job Saver Award' In St. Charles

Today, the American Beverage Association presented Congressman Bill Foster (IL-14) with the Job Saver Award in St. Charles in recognition of his fight to preserve Illinois jobs by opposing additional taxes on pop and other popular beverages.

"As a small businessman, I know taxes kill jobs -- that's why I was proud to stand by the men and women of the American Beverage Association and oppose this tax," said Foster.

The tax proposal, which Foster opposed, would have threatened jobs and obstructed job growth in an industry that provides hundreds of good-paying jobs in communities across America. By opposing the tax on sugar-sweetened beverages, Representative Foster saved 114,126 direct and indirect jobs in Illinois alone.

Added Foster, "Today's announcement provides voters with a clear understanding of the difference between my opponent and me. I opposed this tax, but last year, State Senator Randy Hultgren voted for a $31 billion tax increase that would have raised the cost of pop and put these men and women out of work."
