Issue Position

From the rising costs of heating our homes to the security threats posed by our nation's dependence on foreign oil, our task is clear: America must transition to a sustainable energy economy, and begin doing so right away.

The President's Recovery Act made a down payment on our energy security by investing in the solar, wind, and bio-fuel industries, and the modern grid we'll need to move power to where it is needed. That's a recipe for security, good-paying jobs, and a reduction in pollution.

As we take on the challenge of global warming, we do not need to choose between economic strength and environmental protection. By creating the right set of financial incentives, we can achieve a significant and steady reduction in emissions while creating the new American industry which will employ your children and mine.

We must do more to preserve our nation's natural resources. By strengthening the Long Island Sound Stewardship Act, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and other legislation to protect the waterways and open spaces of our beautiful state, we will help ensure our children can enjoy clean air, clean water, and the natural beauty of the Connecticut coastline for generations to come.
