Issue Position

Afghanistan:

I am greatly concerned by the situation in Afghanistan. First and foremost, I believe that we must support our troops and provide our troops with the resources they need to be successful and win the fight against the Taliban and terrorist insurgents, build up the Afghan army and police force and implement anti-corruption and government reforms. I remain concerned that President Obama has established an artificial timeline for Afghanistan which may embolden our enemies, thus making victory in Afghanistan more difficult. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress and the Administration to ensure that our troops have everything they need to be successful and win this critical battle in the War on Terror.
