For now, anyway, the initiative to amend the US Constitution to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman has been killed.
Senator LISA MURKOWSKI: On this vote, the yeas are 48, the nays are 50, three fifths of the senators duly chosen and sworn not having voted in the affirmative, the motion is not agreed to.
