Dr. Gosar's Statement on Tort Reform

Statement

"There are many differences between Ann Kirkpatrick and me that frame the choice for voters in the race to represent the citizens of Congressional District 1. Ann Kirkpatrick voted for ObamaCare; I will vote to repeal it. Ann Kirkpatrick has voted for wasteful stimulus and bailout spending that has given us nothing but crushing debt, but no jobs. I will vote to reduce spending and stop wasteful bailouts. Ann opposes SB 1070; I support it.

"Ann Kirkpatrick is supported by the trial lawyers. Is it any wonder that she has done nothing to curb the lawsuit abuse which strangles our economy? I will fight against the trial lawyers to end lawsuit abuse. Here is a perfect example: Ann Kirkpatrick supported ObamaCare even though there was nothing in all the 2,500 pages to stop lawsuit abuse in the health care system. This shocking omission proves she cares more about the support of her well-funded trial lawyer friends than she cares about the citizens of our state and their access to health care. Frivolous lawsuits choke our health care economy. They drive good doctors out of the practice. They raise the cost of care and the cost of insurance. They make emergency care inaccessible in many parts of our state. They force defensive practices that are wasteful. When groundless claims are filed it adds to the burden on our courts and forces the squandering of enormous sums of money to defend the cases.

"I will take being a health care provider over a trial lawyer any day. Frankly, this stark difference between us is another reason to send me to Congress. I will support, and initiate legislation, to curb lawsuit abuse in this country. Our country has had enough attacks against doctors and frivolous lawsuits under Kirkpatrick and Pelosi. Let's clean up D.C. and one way to start is to stop this lawsuit nonsense."
